Bamboo – the builder and the practitioner

Bamboo - natural material

Bamboo slats are made of natural bamboo timber fibres. Like every other natural product bamboo slats have specific thermoregulation characteristics; which means that the slats can, to certain extent, be susceptible to external factors like high or low temperature or absorption of humidity from the surroundings. Because of that fact, the slats can bend or strain. However when the external factors return to normal the slats regain their original form. Potential irregularity of shape and texture of bamboo slat is an obvious feature of every natural product.

Bamboo constitutes about 25-45% of the whole flora of the world. It is the fastest growing plant. It lengthens about 1 meter a day (1,1 yard) which is 0,000038 km/h. One of its species grows up to 7cm/h (2,7 inches/h), so, its growth is visible to the naked eye! The evolutional success of the bamboo contributes to supporting the ecology and provides natural building material to the whole world.
